The Sino Group and the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation have been supporting the Pilot Programme on Community Living Room by providing venues and fitting out to the government at no rent and management fees. Following the Sham Shui Po Community Living Room and Hung Hom Community Living Room, the first community living room in Hong Kong Island, the “Shau Kei Wan Community Living Room,” officially opened in March 2025, with funding from the Community Care Fund allocated to the Po Leung Kuk for daily operations. The Community Living Room will continue the spirit and experience of previous initiatives, offering additional living space for sub-divided unit households and underprivileged families, and creating another joyful base to spread care and warmth to the neighborhood.

The Shau Kei Wan Community Living Room is located at Marina House and covers an area of approximately 2,700 square feet. The facilities include a living room, reading corner, playroom, self-service laundry, shower room and pantry, among others, and it is expected to serve 330 sub-divided unit households and accommodate 50,000 visits annually. Additionally, the Community Living Room will regularly host various talks for users, providing community information and appropriate service referrals.

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok Ki, officiated at the Shau Kei Wan Community Living Room Opening Ceremony on 19 March 2025.

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Chris Sun; the Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Ms Alice Lau; the Director of Social Welfare, Mr Edward To; the Chairman of Po Leung Kuk, Mrs Helena Pong; the Board Members and the Predecessors of Po Leung Kuk; the Director of the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation and the Director of Philanthropy of the Sino Group, Ms Nikki Ng; and the Executive Director of the Sino Group, Mr Victor Tin, also officiated at the ceremony.
