During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation (NTFCF) has donated over 5 million surgical masks to the HKSAR Government and the local community.
The globally-sourced surgical masks have been distributed to underprivileged families and people with needs in different districts as an immediate relief measure through the government and over 20 community partners including the Society for Community Organisation, Po Leung Kuk, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and Lok Sin Tong. The efforts also include 50,000 child-size masks for NGOs specialising in children’s services such as Precious Blood Children’s Village, Hong Kong Christian Service, S.K.H. St. Christopher’s Home, St. James’ Settlement, the Children’s Heart Foundation and the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Alongside its mask donations, NTFCF extended financial support to more than 30 NGOs, ensuring they had the resources to continue serving vulnerable groups. Beneficiary organisations include:
- Pei Ho (Ming Gor) Charity Foundation
- Concern for Grassroots’ Livelihood Alliance
- Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society
- Say Yeah
- Rescue Centre for Abandoned Pets
These partners serve a wide range of needs, including support for the physically challenged, under-resourced families, children with special education needs, the elderly, mental health services, and minority communities.
‘Our beloved Hong Kong community has weathered many challenges before, and I have faith that our unity and care for each other will enable us to overcome these difficult times. By supporting and caring for each other, we shall be able to weather this challenge together in the Lion Rock Spirit. Bless Hong Kong,’ remarks Mr Daryl Ng, Director of the NTFCF.
