Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation sponsored the debut of TENG Ensemble in Hong Kong, including two public performances in conjunction with local singers at Olympian City.
TENG Ensemble captivated Hong Kong audiences with their unique integration of Chinese and Western music. Melodious music with a fusion of traditional Chinese, chords, classic and modern Western music permeated through the mall. The 8 members strong ensemble performed Singaporean folk songs with Chinese pipa and sheng, Western cello and guitar accompanied by counter tenor. Their re-interpretation of Hong Kong’s favourites like Under the Lion Rock, through introducing a new, edgy sound to the way it is performed, was particularly riveting.
